It took me forty years to get a perspective on life. Much of my writing now comes from whatever wisdom I’ve accumulated in those years, from my empathy for all those who suffer in the world, who struggle in the desert between their potential and their reality, their dream and their situation, witnessed from the perspective of forty years in philanthropy and, well, just living. I love being this age. I love looking at the world, the human condition, and the cosmos from this perch on the tree of life. I try to put what I see from here into words, and marry them to those three chords.”
